Home Of The Knights

The Greenfield School Athletic Department is proud of its accomplishments.  The department has a no-cut policy, allowing all student athletes to participate.  On the average, there is a 95% participation rate among the student body.  Greenfield offers varsity, junior varsity and middle school sports in soccer, tennis, basketball, golf, volleyball, and baseball.  The department has 20 NCISAA state championships, 21 NCISAA  2nd place finishes, as well as countless semi-final appearances in state tournaments. The Knights have sent over 85 teams to the state play-offs in the past 15 years.

Greenfield competes in the Coastal Plains Independent Conference, and is a member of the North Carolina Independent School Athletic Association.  Along with Independent school competition, Greenfield plays public schools in the 1-A, 2-A, 3-A, and 4-A classification.  The teams try to schedule the best competition at the varsity level.  The middle school teams participate in conference play, with an emphasis on participation, sportsmanship and team oriented goals.

For the school year 2003-2004, Greenfield School was honored with the Wachovia Cup.  The Wachovia Cup is presented to the school with the best overall athletic program.  Teams participating in state play-offs are ranked by a point system:  50 points for the state champion, 45 points for the runner up, 37.5 for the semi-finals and so on.  Each school participating in the state tournament and finishing in the top eight receive points.  Greenfield received 260 points for the year and was honored by the NCISAA with the Wachovia Cup for 1-A competition.  This was the first Wachovia Cup in Greenfield School history.
