The Greenfield School Athletic Department is proud of its
accomplishments. The department has a no-cut policy,
allowing all student athletes to participate. On the
average, there is a 95% participation rate among the student body.
Greenfield offers varsity, junior varsity and middle school sports
in soccer, tennis, basketball, golf, volleyball, cheerleading, and
baseball. Since 2000, the department has won 16 NCISAA State
Championships, and 16 NCISAA State Runner Up finishes , as well as countless
semi-final appearances in state tournaments. Greenfield has been
in 21 State Championships games this decade while competing in 34
state semifinals. The Knights have sent over 100 teams to the state play-offs in the past 10 years.
Greenfield has been named Wachovia Cup Champions in
2003-2004 and 2009-2010. The Wachovia Cup is awarded to
the states best overall athletic program in each division.
Greenfield competes in the Coastal Plains Independent Conference, and is a member of the North Carolina Independent School Athletic Association. Along with Independent school competition, Greenfield plays public schools in the 1-A, 2-A, 3-A, and 4-A classification. The teams try to schedule the best competition at the varsity level. The middle school teams participate in conference play, with an emphasis on participation, sportsmanship and team oriented goals.
