PRESCHOOL

PRESCHOOL CURRICULUM

Greenfield Preschool offers an eclectic program which lends itself to individualized instruction and provides a readiness program to meet the strengths of each child.  Its goal reaches out to teach independence, self-discipline, and enthusiasm for learning.

Daily schedules include teacher-directed and self-directed activities to develop a variety of skills.  Indoor and outdoor activities promote social and physical development.  Music and dance are taught by specialty teachers.

The program for two year olds meets on Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 – 11:30 a.m.

The three-day program for three-year –olds meets on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:15a.m. – 12:00 noon.

The five-day program for three and four-year-olds meets Monday through Friday from 8:15 a.m. – 12:00 noon

Those choosing an all-day option may stay until 6:00 p.m. in the preschool extended day program.  This program offers preschooler an afternoon of enrichment.  Indoor and outdoor age appropriate activities are planned.

Extended Day Program

The extended Day Program was established for children in preschool through sixth grade whose parents need supervision for their children beyond the regular school day.  It offers a safe nurturing  transition between school and home.  The atmosphere is relaxed, activities are available, and guidelines are fair.  There is time for talking with friends, playing indoor games, having fun outdoors, or sitting quietly to hear or read a book.  Homework sessions are supervised and a snack is provided.

The extended day staff meets or exceeds the requirements of our “AA” license as specified by the North Carolina Department of Human Resources.

Child/staff ratios in the preschool area are determined by the age of the youngest child in our care.  A legal reasonable ratio will also be maintained for school age students.

The application and the enrollment contract must be send to the business office no later than July 1.

Students with the greatest need will receive priority over part-time or drop-in students.  Drop-ins must give a 24 hour notice to enable us to keep child/staff ratios appropriate.

Two-year olds may stay on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Three-year-olds who attend preschool three days a week may stay on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.  Three and four-year-olds who attend preschool five days a week may stay Monday through Friday.

Preschoolers must provide their own lunch including beverage.  Soft drinks are not permitted. There is refrigeration and a microwave oven to take care of food.

Several enrollment options for extended day are available.  Carefully study each option and choose a plan that best meets your needs.  Plans may not be changed after July 1.

If your child will be in our care for long periods of time, it will be to your advantage to choose a block enrollment plan.  The hourly rate best serves the occasional drop-in student.  Be sure to check your enrollment choice on the enrollment contract.

A yearly extended day fee has been adopted to provide you with a fixed amount for the entire year.  Several payment plans are available as referenced on the enrollment contract.

The extended day hours are 12:00-6:00 p.m. for preschoolers.  After school students may attend from 3:00-6:00 p.m.
