SENIOR SPOTLIGHT | Cabell Metts

He was named as one of the three students to represent Greenfield in the YMCA Young Leaders Institute. Cabell has also been named an AP Scholar. Cabell is our Chief Marshall for National Honor Society as well as a member of the Strategic Planning Committee for Greenfield. He has been an active member of Chick-fil-A Leader Academy, Youth and Government, Buddies not Bullies, Student Government Association, Spanish Club and Trivia Club. He also serves as an acolyte at his church.

Cabell is a key member of the Soccer and Tennis teams, where he has served as a Captain in both and has won State Championships in soccer. He has also played travel soccer for WYSA. He has been an active volunteer in the community serving as a soccer coach and tennis coach for younger kids, and has also spent many hours at Diversified Opportunities, Camp Sunshine, and the United Way.

Cabell was accepted to UNC Chapel Hill, NC State, UNCW, UVA William and Mary. Cabell will be attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the fall where he wants to study Biology with hopes of getting his PhD and doing research.   1. How long have you been at GS? I’ve been here since Preschool.
  2. What is your favorite class and why? My favorite class Creative Writing with Mr. Griffin because we came up with some good sports.
  3. What is your favorite thing to do outside of school? My favorite thing to do outside school is to water ski.
  4. What is on your playlist? I listen to hip-hop and rap.
  5. What colleges were you accepted and where will you attend? UNC, NCSU, UNCW, William and Mary and UVA. I will go to UNC in the fall.
  6. What will you major in? I am studying Biology.
  7. What is your favorite show? My favorite show is Breaking Bad and the Big Bang Theory.
  8. If you could do high school again, what would you do differently? I would have been more involved in SGA.
  9. What accomplishment you are most proud? I am most proud of being Chief Marshall. It was fun driving that old car around for the drive through graduation.
  10. What will you miss about GS next year? I will definitely miss my friends and the family atmosphere
