SENIOR SPOTLIGHT | Alex Buchanan

She is a key member of the 4H shooting team and volleyball team, and was an integral part of the basketball teams as a statistician. Alex has completed many hours of community service, earning the “100” award multiple times for completing at least 100 hours of community service in a year.

Alex has been accepted to NC State, South Carolina, the University of Washington, and Norwich University. Alex will be attending NC State University where she will be studying Environmental toxicology and Arabic with dreams of entering the Air Force. Don’t forget to check out her interview below!

  1. How long have you been at GS? I’ve been here since 7th grade.
  2. What has been your favorite class and why? AP Bio and AP Environmental because they are really fun.
  3. What is your favorite thing to do outside of school? Volunteering with Wilson Youth Council.
  4. What is on your playlist? Random stuff.  I have music from all genres.
  5. What colleges have you been accepted to and where are you going? Norwich, NCSU, University of Washington and USC. I’m going to NCSU in the fall.
  6. What are you planning on majoring in? I’ll major in Environmental Toxicology.
  7. What is your favorite show? The Office.
  8. If you could do high school over again, what would you do differently? I would get more involved in clubs and put myself out there more.
  9. What accomplishment are you most proud of? I won the Global Gender Award from Girl Scouts.
  10. What will you miss the most about GS? I will miss the people.
